Rochelle, Illinois, April 11th, 2016
After the Center for Railroad Photography & Art conference north of Chicago in 2016, my friend George Hiotis and I traveled into western Illinois. In Rochelle, 75 miles west of Chicago, the Union Pacific's former Chicago & North Western two-track main line crosses BNSF's former Burlington Route Chicago-Twin Cities two-track main line, on four diamonds at roughly a 45-degree angle; we got there during a maintenance window, so instead of trains we photographed hardware and the people who maintain it.
